According to the nonprofit Murder Accountability Group, with a month left in 2017, these are the highest figures since 1998, which saw a total of 40 homicides investigated.

Nashville: A pedestrian was killed in what Metro police described as an intentional hit-and-run crash in East Nashville Sunday. The incident happened on Meridian Street at Edwin Drive around 6 p.m. Metro police said the driver fled the scene after striking the pedestrian described the hit-and-run crash as intentional.
Memphis: Teenager is dead and his killer is still on the run after a shooting in Southeast Shelby County. The Shelby County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting on the 7700 block of Parkmount Drive in Southeast Memphis. Earle Farrell, with the Shelby County Sheriff's Office, confirmed that a 17-year-old male died from injuries obtained during the shooting Sunday afternoon.
A fourth person has died in the hospital following a car crash in Hancock County. The fourth victim was 23-year-old Deidra Seal. She was in critical condition and was being treated for her injuries at Holston Valley Hospital.
